History:
The word History is derived from the
greek word Istoria meaning inquiry
,research, exploration. In a broad sense history is a systematic account of the
origin and development of mankind, a record the unique events and movements in
its life.
History is one of the greatest
branches of human knowledge which deals all aspects of human life. Generally
history is understood as the record of past events. History is the living past
of the man. it is the attempt made by man through centuries to reconstruct describe
and interpret his own past.
History is the result of the interplay
of man with his environment and with his fellowmen. Man always describe himself
in certain basic needs such as foods ,
cloth and shelter. These were the basic
needs of human beings since from the early stage of man life begins on the
earth.
History is record of those events
which indicate the growth of man’s mind, man‘s intelligence and how he used
them to discover better ways of living and build up orderly societies which we
call civilization or culture.

progress and decline of the communities and states with special reference to political
condition of particular King his Empire, socio-Religious condition of each Kingdom,
Economic conditions with different measurement and experiments.

3. J.B. Bury: (1861-1927 AD)

4. E.H. Carley:
“History is nothing but biographies of Great men"
From the above mentioned definitions we come to a conclusion as stated by B. Sheikh Ali in his book ‘History its theory and methods’, according to him “The function of historian is neither to love the past not to condemn the past, not to be free from the past but the master of the past in order to understand its bearing on the present”. (Page no. 08) J. B. Bury says the history is a science no less no more, means that history does the job of science namely inquiry, observe, practical experiments to find out the truth from adopting the new technical methods which is necessary to bring out in the history. To narrate the history the historian required sources there are different types of sources is there in history. A researcher can go through primary sources or secondary sources. Primary sources includes manuscripts (original documents), epigraphy(study of inscriptions), numismatics(study of coins) and monuments(forts, palaces etc). And the secondary source includes the literary records. As we know that “History repeats itself” in the sense that things of the world are same at all the time, but the ways are different every time. The force that influence on the human mind is cause and course of the events, no doubt sometimes events are same and its cause and effects on the society is different.
